Recommender Systems Research: Advances, Pitfalls and Opportunities

This talk covers the evolution of recommender systems research, its current emphasis on short term engagement and the opportunities for providing long-term fulfilling experiences. I will ground this talk with the work conducted within Home and Search personalization efforts at Spotify.

Research Scientist at Spotify
Zahra is a Research Scientist at Spotify, New York. She has a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Southern California. Her research interests include understanding and modeling human behavior in complex situations, in particular as applied to search and recommendation systems. Zahra has received her B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Amirkabir University of Technology and her M.Sc degree from the University of Louisiana.
