Assistant Professor, Sharif University of Technology
Mahdi Jafari Siavoshani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, Sharif University of Technology (SUT), Tehran, Iran, since 2013. He received his B.Sc. degrees in Communication Systems as well as Physics both from SUT in 2005. He was awarded an Excellency scholarship from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he received the M.Sc. degree in 2007 and the Ph.D. degree in 2012, both in Computer, Communication, and Information Sciences. After completing his Ph.D., he joined the Institute of Network Coding (INC) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) as a postdoctoral fellow from 2012 to 2013. His research interests include Information Processing, Information Theory, Large Scale Networks, Machine Learning, and Graphical Models.

Mahdi is a Ph.D. student at the Sharif University of Technology. He is supervised by Dr. Mohammad Ghodsi. His Research involves approximation algorithms for edit distance and similar problems. He also received his Bachelor and Master degrees from the Sharif University of Technology in Computer Engineering.

Mohammad Mahdian has a B.Sc. degree in computer engineering from the Sharif University of Technology, an M.Sc. from University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from MIT. He is currently a research scientist at Google Research in New York. Prior to Google, he has worked at Yahoo! Research and Microsoft Research.

Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California
Meisam is an assistant professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Southern California. Prior to joining USC, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering with minor in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Professor Tom Luo. He obtained his MS degree in Mathematics under the supervision of Pro-fessor Gennady Lyubeznik. Meisam is the recipient of IEEE Data Science Workshop Best Paper Award in 2019, the Signal Processing Society Young Author Best Paper Award in 2014, and the finalist for Best Paper Prize for Young Researcher in Contin-uous Optimization in 2013 and 2016. His research interests include the design and analysis of large scale optimization algorithms arise in modern data science era.
